Is corruption in education affecting the right to education? School graduation and admissions 2008

1. What is corruption in education and what consequences it has on young generation, over population?

2. What special measures were taken in order not to allow corruption at baccalaureate exams in 2008?

3. It is a wide practice of collecting money from pupils by form masters, school/lyceum administrations for baccalaureate exams (for tests multiplication, for observers, for examination commissions), amounts reach Lei 500-800 from every pupil. What do these payments constitute?

4. During the broadcast from 4 August, a person called in connection with the situation at baccalaureate exams. The person asserts that pupils have paid each Euro 100 per exam.

The children of teachers got the mark 10 and the others received low marks. During baccalaureate exams in Boscana, Criuleni rayon, professors were helping the children of teachers and the children parents of whom have paid the amount of Euro 100, were allowing passing notes from outside the classes. Another example, the collocutor communicated that „before the exams dates the Head of the group was fretting the colleagues that the baccalaureate exams will be very difficult and it will not be possible to copy, and that there was a solution, which was – remuneration of professors. The amount of Lei 500 for the mark 5 was solicited and additionally the amount of Lei 100 for each unit of mark. The majority has paid about Lei 800 each, and there are persons who paid the solicited amount but did not pass the exams.15 persons have paid all in all of her group”. How do you comment?

5. Why the regulations on passing baccalaureate and admission exams are modified every year, and in very short time before the baccalaureate / admission exams? Practically, the pupils and parents are stressed the whole year, not knowing what’s going to follow being inclined to offer money if solicited under the vague pretext of „helping the child at baccalaureate exams”.

6. Has the Centre for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption got certain cases of suing education employees for corrupting the process of passing baccalaureate and admission exams?

7. What should one do if money is claimed for baccalaureate or admission exams?
